Eye Exams

Routine eye exams are recommended once per year to maintain healthy eyes and detect any potential eye problems that can occur in children or adults. While some people may go their entire life without vision problems, most people will experience some loss of vision during their lifetime. Some symptoms you may experience that require further evaluation by our doctors include:

  • Pain, dryness, or redness around the eyes
  • Deteriorating vision (including decrease in clarity, glare, halos, or starbursts)
  • Flashes of light in the vision or new floaters

Having trouble with your contact lenses?

Is dryness preventing you from wearing contacts? Is your near vision getting more difficult? Are your contact lenses uncomfortable? Often times, switching to a different type of contact lens will help resolve these issues. We will work with you to find the right combination of contact lens type and parameters to fit your eyes and your vision.

Contact Lenses for Corneal Diseases and After Corneal Surgery

The cornea is the clear, front surface of the eye. It is normally smooth and helps bring light into focus on the retina. When the cornea is affected by a disease such as keratoconus, or after surgery such as a corneal transplant, the cornea can lose its smooth optical surface.

If this occurs, ordinary eyeglasses will no longer provide clear vision, and a rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens may be necessary. An RGP contact lens creates a new, smooth optical surface that can help give you back usable vision. We can determine if this type of lens will help you.
